The Story

Researcher. Content developer. Fitness pioneer.

Tracy Anderson’s method can give anyone — regardless of genetic shape — strong, lean muscles and balance where there is imbalance. She knows, because she did it to herself first, then to thousands of others across more than two decades of research.

How it began

A dancer’s problem became a scientist’s project.

At 18, Tracy moved to New York on a dance scholarship and gained 40 pounds she could not shake from her 5-foot frame — a genetic predisposition, coupled with hormonal shifts, that undermined every effort at the ballet bar. Over-exercising and under-eating changed nothing. She abandoned her dream of dancing professionally, and started asking why.

Years of research, self-testing, and refinement transformed her own body and produced an early version of the Method. In Indiana she assembled a test group of hundreds of women and, over five years, created custom workouts and diets — overhauled every 10 days to keep the accessory muscles engaged — tracking and graphing every result.

In 2006, Gwyneth Paltrow — unable to lose post-pregnancy weight despite every regimen that had worked before — began training with Tracy while filming Iron Man and lost 11 inches in the first 10 days. Convinced every woman should have access to the work, she became Tracy’s business partner.

“I have spent decades studying bodies, solving real physical problems, and being accountable for outcomes. That is not influence. That is skill.”
